Corn stalk tops

A resident sent in photo of corn plants that have broken off just above the ear. He tells me there is no sign of the stalk tops lying on the ground in the field. He claims it looks as if something ate the tassle and stalk top.

  1. I agree with Phil. In the third picture where the stalk is cut off, the cut occurs above the node. If it was green-snap it would occur at the node and the top would be on the ground. Were there any tracks?
